In the village of Wiltshire, there lived a man named Shane with his grandmother. His grandmother was often unwell, and Shane worked tirelessly to provide for her medical treatments. Every penny he earned was spent on her care, and his only wish was for her to recover.
One day, while walking to work, Shane found an injured dog lying on the side of the road. Feeling pity for the poor animal, he decided to take the dog home. Upon entering the house, his grandmother noticed the dog.
Why have you brought a dog home, Shane? she asked.
He’s injured, Grandmother. I couldn’t leave him there. I’ll take care of him, Shane replied.
Then apply some bandages to him, she advised.
Shane carefully bandaged the dog, laid him down in a corner, and finished all his chores before going to bed.
The next day, Shane went to work only to receive bad news—he had been fired. His employer said to Shane, “I have incurred a significant business loss. I can’t sustain the business any longer.”
What should I do now, sir? Shane asked desperately.
Don’t worry, Shane. You’ll find another job soon. I’m sure of it.
Though reassured, Shane felt lost. He began searching for a new job but was unsuccessful. Days turned into weeks, and Shane grew increasingly disheartened. Noticing his sadness, his grandmother finally spoke up.
Shane, my child, you haven’t been able to find a new job, have you? Tell me the truth.
Shane admitted You’re right, Grandmother. I couldn’t find one, but I’ll keep trying. I promise I’ll succeed.
I believe in you, Shane. Keep trying, she encouraged him.
Eventually, Shane found work, but the pay was too little to cover his grandmother’s treatment. Determined, he took on a second job, working tirelessly day and night. On top of this, he managed all the household chores, leaving him exhausted. His grandmother often worried about him, but Shane remained steadfast.
One day, while walking to work, Shane came across an old man sitting by the road. The man looked weak and hungry.
What happened to you, sir? Shane asked.
I’m starving, the man said. I haven’t eaten anything in five days.
Shane, moved by compassion, handed over his lunchbox.
Here, eat this. It’ll make you feel better, Shane said.
The old man gratefully accepted the food blessed Shane, and said, You’re a kind soul, my boy. Today, you gave me your food. I wish to give you something back. He took out a bangle and handed it to Shane.
No, sir, I can’t take it, Shane protested.
Please, take it, the man insisted. This bangle is special. It’s magical and can fulfill all your wishes. Keep it and use it wisely.
Hesitant but grateful, Shane accepted the bangle. To test it, he asked Magical bangle, to give me a box of food. Instantly, the box was filled with food.
This is amazing! But, sir, if you had this bangle, why didn’t you use it for yourself? Shane asked.
I never needed it for myself. I used it to help others. Now it’s your turn to do the same, the old man replied with a smile before leaving.
That night, Shane got home and told his grandmother all about it. Skeptical, she said, Shane, I think someone tricked you. That can’t be true.
Let me prove it to you, Shane replied confidently.
He held the bangle and said, Magical bangle, give me food for my grandmother and Jack. In a flash of light, food appeared, and his grandmother was astonished.
It’s true! This bangle is magical. We’re so lucky, she exclaimed.

From that day forward, Shane used the bangle to help his fellow villagers. He ensured that no one went hungry and that those in need received help. He also used the bangle to get his grandmother treated in a good hospital. Shane’s life became filled with happiness and purpose as he selflessly helped others.
